Travel Resolutions For The New Year

Some people may think New Year resolutions are pointless goals nobody ever seems to accomplish. I like the idea of a fresh start to a new year and enjoy making resolutions, so this year I’ve decided to make a few travel resolutions.

Explore America more.

The word ‘travel’ usually makes us think of going to exciting places far away and we sometimes forget what’s right outside our door. I’ve only seen the eastern half of America (which is less than half of the country’s land mass) and have never been west of Texas. This year I’d like to travel my own country a little more.

The American West is one place I'd like to travel this year.

Go white water rafting.

For years I’ve had an itch for this adventure, which is strange because I’m not a big fan of water. I refuse to go more than waist deep into the ocean. But every time I see white water rafting in a movie/travel show, I think about how much fun that looks! Maybe I’ll take care of two resolutions at once and give this a go when I travel out west.

Visit Ireland.

My grandfather died before I was born, but I heard many stories about him from my grandmother. I was always intrigued when she would talk about where they grew up. It’d be nice to see where they, and half of myself, came from.

Do you have any travel resolutions for the new year? Are you making plans to go somewhere or try something new?
